Wildlife emergency! Please help animals affected by the BP oil spill

In recent days, I've seen more and more pictures and videos of the devastating effects the BP oil spill has had on animals. These pictures and videos seriously break my heart. If you want to help the National Wildlife Federation care for sick and injured animals as a result of this oil spill, please check out the following information that I have taken from the National Wildlife Federation's website. Even if you can only donate a couple dollars, every bit helps.

WILDLIFE EMERGENCY
Please help today!

Millions of gallons of oil have oozed into the water since the April 20th rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. Some estimates calculate the oil flow to be over 70,000 barrels of oil a day—making the BP spill already eight times larger than Exxon Valdez!

And we still don't know when it will stop.

The wildlife casualties are adding up. Oil has officially hit land, and numerous sea turtles, dolphins and migratory birds have all been reported dead or dying on gulf beaches. Sadly, this is just the beginning of the uphill battle wildlife in the region now face.

Please donate today to help protect the over 400 species of treasured wildlife that stand to lose so much from this devastating tragedy. Your support will go right to work protecting wildlife and wild places impacted by the BP oil spill disaster.

I will definitely donate as this spill affecting our wildlife hurts me so much. I hate seeing animals in pain or impacted some environmental disaster. BP definitely needs to PAY UP also!

  3. Thank you for posting something about the oil spill. It is such a terrible thing and the repercussions of the event seem like they'll be around forever which is such a shame. I hope a solution is found to stop the oil from spilling in to the ocean soon.

By the way, I love your posts on the experience you are having in China!! 5 years ago I spent half a year abroad in Spain and wish blogging had been as big as it is now, it's such a great way to share the experience with those back at home!

  4. Here's a neat tool to help understand the size of the oil spill - "relocate" it using google maps.

  7. P.S. Text "WILDLIFE" to 2022 - texting "SAVE" will donate $10 to earthquake relief in Haiti (still a great cause of course).

  15. I'm in Florida so we hear about it in some form or other every single day. I can't believe it's been allowed to continue this long! Why did they not have a plan for a catostrophic event like this? I just don't understand how oil companies don't have to have emergency plans like every other company?

  17. I am so devastated for those poor innocent animals. The pictures of these poor animals make me both nauseous and horrified and teary-eyed at the same time. Thank goodness there are people out there helping save the animals they can.
